After finishing third in the recent Tour de San Luis of this year, Alessandro Petacchi has yet again risen into his glorious self.

This Italian cyclist is the proud winner of fifty one grand tours that are quite celebrated in the circuit and has a spotless reputation to his name. Since the beginning of this tour, he had given every reason for rejoicing him to his fans and supporters. He had been going pretty strong in every step leading to the finals.

Yet in the finals he despite having a brilliant start and an amazingly competitive race, had some trouble in the final five kilometers during which Mark Cavendish who came first in this prestigious competition passed him along with Modolo who came second thus sealing Petacchi to the third position.

The Italian cyclist, who has won in reputed circuits like Tour de France, Giro’ d Italia as well as the Vuelta a Espana had a bad streak in the year 2007 when he had a positive result in one of his drug test due to the overdose of his prescription asthma medicine.

But later it had been expunged and the suspension thus imposed was relaxed. But the allegations followed a long course where he had been accused of intentional usage of the medicine above the normal usage level, to which it had been ruled that he had been negligent and the detection was entirely owing to his severe error.

Currently he belongs to the team Lampre-Merida, which too was in new recently due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of its Sports Manager of eighteen months, Roberto Damiani and the subsequent succession of Michele Bartoli who happens to be a very close friend of Petarcchi. It was alleged that the cyclist himself had forced the old sports manager pf Lampre-Merida.
